Umar Kabiruddin
Umar Kabiruddin is a teacher, writer, and trained mufti, and the founder of House of Qur’an. He earned his ʿalimiyyah from Madrasah Arabia Islamia in Azaadville, South Africa, and specialized in Hanafi iftaʾ and qadaʾ under Mufti Abdul Jaleel Qasimi. He also holds ijazah in the ten modes of recitation. He studies with Imam Mohamed Magid and Shaykh Suhaib Webb, his fatwa mentor in the region. He teaches Hanafi fiqh and usul with a focus on method: how rulings are derived, not just what they are.

House of Qur’an was founded to reconnect Muslims to the Qur’an, not only through recitation, but through understanding, reflection, and lived practice.
The Qur’an is not just a text to be read. It is the source from which the Islamic sciences grow. From it came usul al-fiqh, the discipline that explains how scholars derive guidance from revelation. From that came fiqh, the law that shapes how we pray, worship, transact, and live. And alongside them came a worldview: a way of thinking about God, knowledge, and the world rooted in revelation and reason.
Many programs stop at recitation. Ours goes further. We want students who can read the Qur’an with confidence, and who also understand how the tradition built on it works. That means learning why rulings are what they are, how the scholars reasoned, and how principles like custom, context, and the treatment of transmitted reports shape the law. We focus on teaching the method, not just handing down conclusions.
Our programs meet students where they are, whether they’re taking their first steps with the Qur’an or ready to study Islamic law and thought in depth. From foundational Qur’an learning to structured courses in usul, fiqh, and belief, each program is part of one connected path that begins and ends with the Qur’an.
