Umar Irfan Kabiruddin is a student of Qur’an & Islamic Knowledge and a graduate from the Islamic University of Azaadville, South Africa. He began his memorization of the Qur’an when he was 5 at the Islamic Society of Baltimore under Qari Muhammad Zahid and Qari Muhammad Abid (may Allah preserve them) from 2004 until 2007. He completed his Hifdh at Darul Uloom In’aamiyah in Camperdown, South Africa, under Qari Ismail Mehtar (May Allah preserve him) at the age of 10. He then went to Darul Uloom Tahir (Durban, South Africa) to complete his Qur'an review and pre first year of Alim course.
Umar then completed the 6 year Alim course in Azaadville, South Africa, and has received a professional Ijazah in Islamic Sciences and Sanad (chain of scholarship linking back to prophet Muhammed ﷺ).
He has also received a professional Ijazah for Qira’ah Sab’ah (7 Styles of Recitation of Qur’an) and Thalatha (together known as the 10 styles of Qur’anic Recitation) in Azaadville, South Africa, under Qari Abdullah Motara (May Allah preserve him).
Once back in the U.S, he began teaching at the Diyanet Center of America as a Qur’an and Islamic Studies instructor. Due to the 2020 Pandemic, he transitioned to teaching online and founded House of Qur’an. He has also taught Qur’an Dawr, Hadith, and Islamic Studies at INK Foundation of Baltimore.
Umar has also received specialized training and certification in teaching Maktab and Evening Classes.
He also has a unique experience in that he had re-memorized the Qur’an after having forgotten it completely. Thus he understands the struggles of redoing Hifdh and the swiftness of forgetting the Qur’an. He has helped students on the brink of losing their Qur’an to re-memorize and revise their Dawr (Manzil).
Currently, Umar serves the community by giving khutbah at various Masajid, he is the Head of the Shura Department of Al Salaam Academy, and an instructor at Al Rahmah Sunday School. He has completed the Iftaa program and is now studying Hadith under Syed Mufti Abdul Jaleel of South Africa, he is reciting Qur’an to Sheikh Ibrahim Sabry of Egypt, and he is studying various Islamic subjects under Imam Suhaib Webb and Imam Magid of USA.
