Qur’an Dawr Program

Overview

The Qur'an Review program offers Huffadh an opportunity to improve their Dawr with personalized assistance from experienced teachers. The program is mandatory for Hifdh graduates and long-time Huffadh who may have fallen behind on their Dawr due to the events of life. Each student is given an individualized plan and attention to ensure that the student's time is not wasted and that they are consistently improving.

Course Description:

Students will recite the Qur’an while looking inside to a teacher who will correct Tajweed mistakes and ensure the student is reading properly. Once a Khatm is completed in Nadhirah, the student will move on to the Dawr reconstruction phase, where they will recite a portion of the Qur’an to a teacher while looking inside and then recite it without looking inside. The goal is to increase the student’s ability to recite portions of the Qur’an fluently without making too many mistakes. Mistakes will be marked, and the student will review them to ensure they do not repeat them. Once the student completes one Khatm in this manner, they may proceed to the Testing Phase.

In the Testing Phase, the student will recite one entire Juz’ to the teacher and will be graded on the mistakes made. The goal in the testing phase is to minimize mistakes to meet the passing requirement of 3 mistakes or less per Juz’. The idea is to establish a gold standard in the student's mind so they can gauge their Dawr based on their own performance.

Passing Requirements:

Students should be able to recite 1 Juz from memory in one sitting without exceeding 3 mistakes and without repeating a previously made mistake; this is the minimum requirement to pass the program.

Once the student is ready to begin the examination phase, they start from the 1st Juz’ and continue through the 30th Juz’, with adequate preparation time in between (up to 24hrs per Juz’). If a student fails a Juz’, they do not have to restart from Juz’ 1 but simply repeat the failed Juz’ until they pass.

In addition, students should also be capable of reciting any 1 Juz’ without needing much preparation time and making no more than 1 non-repeated mistake every Quarter (approximately 5 pages).

Students should feel comfortable reciting from any part of the Qur'an without the need to 'review' or 'prepare.'

Adherence to the basic rules of Tajweed is necessary for passing at all levels.

Class Timings & Course Duration:

Classes are flexible and are set based on mutual agreement between the Qari and participant.

A general course duration cannot be give because it is different for each student.
